 A friend who seems so old  to me gave me a Ganesh statue and it stilled me. How did he know that I would have appreciation for this? How tender  the gesture to give this to me at such a transitional time in my life. I am grateful. Let me share with you why. Ganesh is one of the most widely worshiped Hindu Gods. He is templated with features of a human and an elephant. His is the son of Shiva and Parvati. Fond of sweets( and so am I ),  he is depicted in  a seated posture.  Generally, considered as a bachelor; so living singularly, he is represented as a bestower of two Shaktis- Siddhi and Buddhi. It is considered auspicious to worship him at the start of any action or venture. I am about to venture into a number of new things. Business deals, friendships, travel. All starting NOW. The DNA of relationships- The easiest science I know One night, I spoke with someone who I just met earlier in the year, This is a person who is quickly becoming a cherished friend. Talking with her and the few things we said to each other allowed me to think deeply about relationships and particularly friendships. If you knew me well, then you would know that I believe that the way to measure a relationship can be as simple as "How you feel when you hang up the phone. " I implore anyone who talks to me and also ask myself these questions: Was Love expressed? Was there Laughter? Was there Honesty? Was there good intent for tomorrow? Where we centered during the conversation? Did we listen to each other? Am I eager to see, encounter, hang with this person and talk with him / her again? These are things that I can decipher from a 5 minute phone call. The answers are revealed in the DNA© that builds the conversation. For me there are only two types and no hybrids exist. Yea...

A few weeks ago we hosted dinner at with a friend of mine and her new husband. Now, I am gonna share some things (primarily in bold) that you might want to write down. Ready? This meal was with a friend that I had not seen since last autumn (and her new husband). It was a good night of laughter and shared truths as well as some illusions which were quite funny to discover. She was reflecting on things she said she had learned from me during the course of our friendship. These were things that I had said about happiness, faith and religion, family and some things on being positive and authentic that I had shared or remarked during our conversations. These are two good people by our measure and perception. We talked into the wee hours of the evening until they ended up staying for the evening in the front guest room.
