The Awakening

The Awakening    A time comes in your life when you finally get it...when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out -" ENOUGH! " Enough fighting and crying or struggling to hold on. And, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside, you shudder once or twice, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes. This is your awakening . You realize it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change... or for happiness, safety and security to come galloping over the next horizon. You come to terms with the fact that neither of you is Prince Charming or Cinderella and that in the real world there aren't always fairy tale endings (or beginnings for that matter) and that any guarantee of  "happily ever after" must begin with you... and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptan...

WANTING SOMETHING " DIFFERENT"

I AM moved by the calling and the theme presented this week by some of the most wonderful people I know.  The silent sufferers, the angry one, the searcher and wanderer.  Wonderful and wanting something "different."    You and they are  what I like to call Children of the Divine...just like me.   So,  I have a message for you in the thoughts to follow below ...because we are not that separate and all could use this pause and reflection:  N o matter what side of the aisle you stand on, no matter who or what you pray to, no matter what it is you do for a living,  I do  think you will agree that we often do not know what someone has been presented in our lives to do.  We often put an assignment on people and our terrible E (dging) G (od) O (ut) has us trying to force folks to fit a mold most convenient for us.  Let me assure you that no matter who you are or who you believe yourself to be, that behavior from YOU d...

Elegance in business and life

The topic that has been discussed on my twitter and Facebook since Sunday, 11/13/11 is "elegance." Here is today's blog. There are no coincidences as there are many people working to achieve this. Since we are all a work in progress, I hope it helps. "Elegance" is about how you decide to stand in the spaces that life presents professionally and personally.  Both scenarios are like a glass floor. You exercise grace, care and caution as you walk across it and even when you are  standing still. The greatest and optimum success of your work life will not be determined by your credentials (MBA, PhD, JD, CPA or whatever else): the fact that you know more than others, that you have "backing", or marketing or system building techniques. While these can all be important to  have or cultivate, they alone do not amount to success. It will be determined by your ability to suspend your ego and adopt and authenticate the vision behind the business you ...

A conversation to catch a fire

A dear loved one of mine had spent a late and cold evening telling me about what people were not doing for him and how he was not doing what he wanted to do in terms of work and his personal life. He "hates" living where he lives and not having a car and complained that the family did not get together as much since his mother passed and so many other things. I listened intently. I was listening because I love this person and also because I was telling myself that his echo of grace would soon come from all the words of his experience. His pain deserved to be put down and at this time there was nothing more important than that. It would soon come. He talked about work and job opportunities that he thought would come through for him and he blamed everyone outside of himself for the opportunities not working out for him; him not getting a job, respect, etc. It was all about him. I respectfully tried to make it clear to him that we sometimes get whatever it is that we are putt...

Women's History Month and Self Esteem

This is for the many multifaceted women of the world...Is there a better creation than us really? I often wonder, but I also wonder about what some of us lack. No better time to talk about us women than this March (2009) and onward when we observe, Women's History Month. So I decided to talk about a really big thing. Self-esteem, it is something that I have wondered if we are born with. Webster's dictionary defines it as — n. proper esteem or regard for the dignity of one's character. I believe that some of us just intuitively have a sense of high worth and dare I say, our divinity. This thing, self -esteem and respect is more likely a result of nurture than nature though. However, when I see the dainty ways, confidence and energy of some baby girls that I know ..I do have to wonder if it is actually inborn. My feelings are mixed on that. The idea that being influenced, taught, loved, and collaborating with people who have a strong sense of self respect themsel...
