I have an educational background with a top American engineering school and an Ivy League University. Society does not expect to see someone that looks like me on the campuses much less in those classrooms. Nevertheless, I did that. Several years ago, I had a White co-worker tell me that my voice on the phone and my knowledge base made him assume that I was much older and also White; so, he was shocked when he met me. He was also quite dumb because … I mean, use LinkedIn! I told him never assume anything about someone’s race based on the sound of their voice. I was already clued into the assumptions and bias that people have and offended that intelligence and articulation are deemed ” White” traits. The fact of the matter is that there is no gender or color for intelligence. However, if you ask Apple or Amazon – you’ll find that “Siri” and “Alexa” voices are predominate in their AI. We Know The Way.      At the end of the day, I believe in the decency of the American people. I would have left the United States a long time ago if I did not believe in the decency of our people. I believe in my family, friends, and colleagues.  I don't watch the debates. Many of  them do. I believe in our capacity to do a better thing for our children. I do my research. Those who have a real career in politics: I look up their in-office work and contributions, where their funding comes from, what they have supported in their home states and D.C. You deserve to know: A time has come when you can be still and listen to the truth. Name your darkness. The ego is giving you such petty gifts and is mean like fire and thunder with rain made of rocks. The fire can't even go away with rain like that. You don't even get encouragement and self respect from the choice that you made. Don't repeat it lest you are insane. Where is the good voice that is guiding you? It is not a voice of what you should do but instead is a voice of protection and intercession; more of a trusting voice that knows what you are going through and gives you the messages of what is good to know. The best marketers leading brands in 2016 may not be able to control every new thing that falls over their industry from regulation to politics, but they can prepare for pending storms and help secure success for their teams and brands. Keeping all channels covered; at pace,cultivating curiosity, service and solutions while creating momentum that delivers ROI and increasing share is the ongoing quest for most brands and their chief marketers. This is no easy task and it requires numerous organizational, value and technological efficiencies. The approach in 2016 and beyond must be nonlinear.     What Have You Done?    Something You Must Do: When you apologize to someone for mistreating them, abusing your power instead of sharing and exchanging power in your relationship with them, or bringing them emotional harm, you must change your offensive behavior immediately and never return to it. Never. You must change. You must ask yourself where it is that you learned that the behavior was okay. Evaluate how much of that experience of learning is a part of your past and present day. You must evaluate yourself with love and dedication to changing your beliefs, your way of living and loving and your way of being for the better. June 19, 2015 I have been away for a bit from blogging, social media accounts and I spent almost two weeks off  my own personal facebook page. The world continued to turn on its axis. Things were in a swirl of sort and I want to stay in a healthy focused vortex with business and personal pursuits.   As an energetic being I felt the drama and tensions of June 2015 nevertheless.  During my time off the page, I discovered that a female skunk had babies and built her den in the backyard of the home. Pure luxury for her, I assure you.  I was alarmed and then observant.  There are five really cute "kits" (baby skunks) and their lone mother. No TV for them; just homeowners who would like them to relocate. We sprayed “organic” repellent (basically fox hormone) along the rocks and she is diligently working to place herself and those little black and white babies in a new home. The Consciousness, Intention and Actions to Achieve Diversity and Inclusion   Here is a bold statement: " Diversity is not something that is needed. It already exists."  All we have to do is accept that and use our eyes wherever we can to acknowledge that people are different with unique thoughts, histories and perspectives to contribute.
