so calm in the midst of Sandy."

I was asked today how it is that I can be "so calm in the midst of Sandy."
My answer: First of all, human reaction is the biggest storm.
I contemplated safety and I know what that looks like for me.
I talked to the elements of nature that surrounded my property.
Yes, I talked to them. Anyone who knows me personally and well knows how it went down.
Mother Nature takes the stage every single day and the same peace I have when she casts a rainbow is the same peace I held when trees fell, winds roared, and" electricity" (not my lights) went out.
I had no worry or anxiety towards anything different. A storm does not define me and I am a force of nature just like the wind, the trees, the earth and I decided to be firmly rooted before any elemental change was predicted.
My focus has been safety, peace, and this moment. I cannot change yesterday. I have little control over tomorrow. My mindfulness in the present moment my self at peace is the force. I will help who and how I can and I will do it all PEACEFULLY.
I do not quicken to identify with tragedy and loss because I AM NOT LOST. I identify with BIRTH because I WAS BORN and whatever may come, I and all survivors no matter their course of survival are supposed to be here. We will cope, some will pray, others will change, blessings and grace may take on new meaning for many, some will remain the same and ALL OF US WERE BORN just not all before the storm.
In the midst of the STORM I created, I worked on things that I was born to do. I did not panic and I do not panic now.
If a fate towards ascension were to befall me, I would have been found doing something I was born to do.
In the aftermath, I have done and will do what I can to help who I can because I was born to do that too.
