Women's History Month and Self Esteem

This is for the many multifaceted women of the world...Is there a better creation than us really? I often wonder, but I also wonder about what some of us lack. No better time to talk about us women than this March (2009) and onward when we observe, Women's History Month. So I decided to talk about a really big thing. Self-esteem, it is something that I have wondered if we are born with. Webster's dictionary defines it as — n. proper esteem or regard for the dignity of one's character. I believe that some of us just intuitively have a sense of high worth and dare I say, our divinity. This thing, self -esteem and respect is more likely a result of nurture than nature though. However, when I see the dainty ways, confidence and energy of some baby girls that I know ..I do have to wonder if it is actually inborn. My feelings are mixed on that. The idea that being influenced, taught, loved, and collaborating with people who have a strong sense of self respect themsel...

Work Advice - Asked and Answered

Looking for advice on how to champion an innovative idea such as a fully integrated Multi Channel Suite, in a culture that tends to work in silos & doesn't easily embrace such innovation? I am looking for advice from anyone who has tried to (successfully) incorporate innovative change, in a culture that doesn't usually react or adopt such change? Specifically, if the culture has been for each department to work in their own silo or a culture that is not tech savvy and resists embracing technology, especially if they feel it puts "all the eggs in one basket?" Your advice or shared experiences are most welcome & much appreciated! Thank you! Doing this requires strategy that calls up psychology, meeting and relationship tactics. It also requires communicating with f...

The Beginning is Now.....a delayed post for yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Current mood: breezy Category: Life February 21, 2009 - Connecticut The beginning is now ....and it always will be folks. This week more than any other, I found myself having conversations of both business and personal nature which reaffirms one thing. People can't get up and get going because they are mired in their past. They are living in their days gone by and they are not able to move on. They have a hard time forgiving that some things just don't last forever and that some things simply end and don't work out as they would have planned or because they didn't plan {ahem! and amen!}. With the number of job losses being incomprehensible at best and companies basically playing games and being squeamish when it comes to new hires and interviews, I think their is a psychological premise for hanging on to what has been. Memory of regimen can be a bitch even if that regimen did not serve us in getting to our personal best. We likely felt most normal because for good or...

Valentine's Day 2009

Be thankful for the love you have got. The ability to see, hear, speak the word "love" mobilizes the capacity to give and receive it. There are people who have a real reason to say, "I am missing love." Think of the families and loved ones of the souls lost on that Continental flight into buffalo, just 2 days ago. That my friend is missing love. I'm praying for them and sending my love energy their way. Thank you Halim. For evoking a consciousness that you may not even have intended. Love to you all.... This January of ours!!! - Nature's Winter

This January of ours !!! - Nature's Winter Thu 12:16am Edit Note Delete Uploaded via Facebook Mobile This January of ours ...has been wonderful in the Northeast ; if you know what to do with it. I dare you to go out and play in the snow. Remember the big fluffy one we got last week? The snowflakes floated gracefully through the air and it was like white cotton candy all over the place. When was the last time you stuck your tongue out and tasted the snow flakes? When was the last time we had this much snow? Not in a long time right? The times when we did have winters like this seemed more stable, more " normal", and more happy in some ways for more of us. Yes it is cold, slippery in some areas, icy and all of that. But, I would never call it " brutual" or some of the words that I hear and see being used. I mean really, is that any way to talk to Mother Nature? Yes it's extremely icy in some spots. Icy just seems like that loving mother calling out -" No...

I Believe in The Flow....

I believe in the flow Current mood: awake Category: Life I believe in the healthy flow of life and today said to myself, " Little A...you know it has to flow." Yes , sometimes I say to myself " Little A" to remind me to treat new learning with gentleness, enthusiasm, optimism and the gratitude of a child. We so often push for loving, push for wanting, push someone to stay, push for acknowledgement, push to convince and push to pretend, we even push for change that may never come or really simply may not be part of the plan for the person , place, or ourselves. Seriously... wasn't it hard enough being born? Wasn't there enough push and tug in that process? Just getting here and screaming out loud because the peace we once knew was disrupted..that was enough no? Getting here is a struggle but living here should be about striving for peace, serenity, greatness and having it. No cheap dramas and such. I talked with a dear friend and family member about a situat...
