Just Ask

Just Ask.... The other day I was asked how it is that I am so drawn to the image of Buddah and I responded. " It is a very peaceful image for me." There is a bit of a smile ...or not, but the face looks content and even like a baby. What well person can be upset with a baby? I also cannot help but think of a flower and the humility of growth when I see the image of Buddah. There are several Buddah statues throughout my home. They soften my already softly and thoughtfully appointed living, working, bathing and sleeping spaces. They are comfortable places to be. Buddah was a prince that gave up all of his wordly possessions to have an ultimate peace. All the trappings ...given away. With that thought, I also shared that a flower is something that I wonder if any one human being could be upset with. I think it is nearly impossible to do that too. Perhaps this is because we all know that flowers, as commonplace as they are, do not just occur. They are a part of a miracle. I i...

My business mind on random or overdrive... 5 conversation points

    1) Thoughts on efficiency: It is a by product of hard work and in fact a bonus that comes to stakeholders and customers - The world may get excited about it, but efficiency should never be the core goal. Take for example... Google searches. They made looking things up extremely efficient, since you don't have to drive to the library and look through a card catalog and deal with the aggravation of y our local library not having what you are looking for. Google is super efficient ; you can search the world of information, but that's secondary to the business of connecting advertisers and users, which is "the right thing to do" in addition to being a case of  "doing things right." What is right and validates efficiency is the ability to earn revenue from it. 2) There is a natural impulse to compete for a win and everything is designed that way. Relationships, business partnerships, media, vendor services, social media. The sooner ...

11 is the Number after 10!  -  October 11, 2011 ( 10/11/11) So much time gone by already, a year of birthdays, anniversaries, deaths, milestones, and life changing events and lots of learning.  Since, I want to take these last remaining  weeks of 2011 focused both professionally and spiritually  ..I share this with you.  It comes from the living and study and experience of a common theme in all of our lives. What greater gift than something that connects us  all eh? Forgive the typos. "I am perfect in the least bit'  and neither is spell check, but I do have perfect love for humankind. Oh and if you do not read all of this ...I forgive you.    Forgiveness is a wonderful, fascinating and fabulous process that engages the five necessary parts: spiritual, psychological, emotional, mental and physical levels of our being at once. I have not given birth to any babies as yet but I do liken' it to t...

100 Things I AM Grateful For...

"I hope that this note finds you doing especially well."  I start most notes that I send this way and the fact is that I mean it.  I am here reflecting on a very full week and closing out what was a quick Saturday. In the midst of it all I have been itching to journal  about the things that I am grateful for lately. They fall below in no particular order. 1) Cable TV servicer that arrives on time and goes the distance to make sure I get the service I ordered.  (Monday) 2) Safe commutes into New York city during the week. 3) Catching the train with 2 minutes to spare 4)  A pair of gold; leather Ralph Lauren ballerina flats in my pocketbook that  served as back up when my heel broke on my fancy Italian shoes. 5) New connections and friends that are sincere, funny, and engaging 6) The rebloom of roses and exotic flowers in my front and back gardens 7)  My brilliant and open mind if I do say so myself 8) My iPhone...let's just give it up fo...

Excerpt from Faith and Business by Adrienne A. Wallace

I hope you know the secrets of your own heart and can find them in your business life as much as you do in your private spaces. Trust your instincts. Sell only what you would buy. Don't work for anyone who does not think that you deserve to eat what they ask you to hunt. Promote what is real. Maintain your integrity. Be at peace with your God and learn from every experience of embrace or attack. Do the work and perfect your skills. Do it now. Innovate, change, get online and connect. Collaborate. Listen and learn. Write it down. Be humble, but not shy. Be honorable to your customers .. Do not deny your friends or family your time or love. Turn off the smartphone and computers and turn on the laughter. Connect with your heart. Care about your team. You want the same thing. Ask about your clients hobbies and family and mean it. Choose what to cheer and recruit for each day. Understand what requires private counsel. Know who has your back. Have faith in your risks and work fo...
