What's the Story Here? Do you think your Page/Group is a Barbara Walter's Special?

I found myself spending some time unliking several Pages and leaving several Groups on facebook because they seem to have been abandoned by the creators and administrators. There have been no postings for months and there is no talk back or reply to comments made by people who have commented on postings.  Have you noticed this too?

Let me tell you that social media is very much a channel and medium of demographic access but it is also a domain  with rich psychographic information  and psychology reaction as well. Ask the celebrity whose PR company does not monitor his/her pages if there is any question about this and the impact of ignoring an audience.

We live in a time where digital /social media tears down borders and  dramatically increases the speed to market of what we have  to offer. We get  to be  "global, " gain motivation for our craft, product, and imagine this ...can be inspired towards growth and longevity for something we do really well.

You brand imagery and personality can be seen by many and the opportunities for you are  multiplied.  This is a good thing.  However, when you abandon a " Page"  that you've created,  it tells your audience aka SUPPORTERS/ POTENTIAL CLIENTS that you are saying to them,  "You don't really matter."  That is not a good thing.

Would the Page owner behave this way in a room filled with these same people or anyone for that matter?

In terms of setting up fan our group pages, do it  and remain engaged or don't set one up at all. Just go ahead and  delete the one that you have abandoned. You are littering the digital environment by creating this building for a party where you are supposed to be host but have not really shown up.

The starting of a Group and then deciding you no longer want it or your schedule has been too busy to lead it requires explanation. Is that how you conduct business or market your services and talent? Are you really that inconsistent?  If you are serious about your brand , just do it right.

You can give reliable people administrative rights and content to help keep it alive in social media. Blogs need the same regard; hence the opportunity to network with people of like ilk and interest and engage them as guest bloggers.  Manage the content and scheduling as the catalyst to significant opportunity.

It's  all media and even though you are not paying for it ..there are expectations.  Be "social" and consistent. Your brand requires at least that. In truth all brands do in this new day of digital and quick  adoption.

The only person I have known to be successful with being inconsistent  in scheduling and to not have a regular broadcast of offerings is Barbara Walters with her TV specials.  However let's be real here -  She has paid her dues and she can do that.

P.S.  - "Yes" for any one who needs to ... go tear down that old  long abandoned Myspace page too. This applies to that  multimedia animal as well.

LETTING GO....

L-E-T-T-I-N-G    G-O You have seen these words before..yes? Very simply written in nine letters. “L e tting  go .” Why does it make you uncomfortable?  It is simply an action that you as a human being experience every single day, just by physically and chemically existing.  It is an action that occurs when you have complete trust in your intuition ; that heaven sent voice inside of you. You know the one you may not always agree with, but the angels are so fond of you ..they send it into your ears, head, heart , and sometimes your eyes? If you are reading this your eyes open and they shut very quickly ..it is called "blinking" but in fact it is letting go and it happens very quickly. As we blink old light goes away and we allow new light to come in …seeing the next moment. As you turned on your computer or device you may have pressed a button, touched the screen, flipped a switch. As you clicked on your mouse, stroked and released keys on the k...

The Things I will do Before You Are Gone....

Fully aware of how precious life is and remembering the tender, exciting and amazing muses that I have been blessed and no doubt favored to know.. I wrote this list. Enjoy it. Create a life you love. The Things I will do Before You Are Gone.© By Adrienne Wallace (June 2008) 1) I will tell you, "I love you more than anything ...except GOD." 2) I will squeal with delight when you have achieved something new or gotten more of what makes you happy. I will stay as you pursue your delight and be a part of you capturing it. 3) I will steal your pillowcase when you are out of the room and replace it with a fresh one. I will put the one I steal on my pillow so I can smell your essence when I nap or sleep. 4) I will hold your hand even if you were 'just my manicurist' and look into your eyes and say "Thank You"... Maybe you're touching hands all day, but I want you to remember that mine appreciates yours. They are so warm 5) I will wish you t...

Where Did It Go? The question that comes when ownership is lost.

" Where Did It Go? " This is a common question asked about time, goodness, old regimes, and old relationships, memory and other than that... money and misplaced keys. Where did it go? We hear this amongst those of us who have not set a strategy and intention for what we have. This also the question that comes particularly from those of us who become all too confident in what we have but do not own. Ownership of one's talent, work, innovation, relationships and contribution is either an old or new concept in many places. What is encouraging is the ability to list our criteria for ownership and then be honest about what we truly own. Here are a few that I was thinking of today: Ownership of material things - You paid for it , don't owe anything for it to anyone Ownership of relationships - You tell the truth, engage with grace, and express mutual respect without excuses or references to what does not apply to the person you are relating to Ownership of innovation -...
